Yes. Lok Adalat is one of India's official alternative dispute resolution forums, empowered under the Legal Services Authorities Act 1987 and recognised by Section 89 CPC. Settlement awards are final, binding and non-appealable — same legal weight as a court decree. VirtualVakil does not negotiate fines; the discount is the standard settlement ratio applied by the presiding panel.
Typical Lok Adalat settlements reduce the fine by 60–70% of the original amount. On an average ₹1,500 challan that works out to roughly ₹500 after the panel's reduction. You then pay the settled amount + our ₹500 service fee. For single small-value challans the saving is modest; the benefit scales fast when you have multiple pending challans.
